Divorced thirty-something Claire doesn't know who's in her dating pool--but she's doing her best to avoid shark infested waters. Leaving her clueless and insensitive husband behind was a smart move after losing her fertility, but now she's riding the wave of flying toupees, strange men in leather thongs and drunken nights in painfully impractical shoes. Claire desperately wanted to be a mother, but now she'll settle for one middle aged man worthy of a second date.

After a long drought, men are flooding her shores and she's drowning in choices. There's Justin, the 25-year-old IT boy-genius with the GQ looks and cougar fetish, who won't take 'no' for an answer. A woman would have to be a blind, lesbian nun not to fall for him, but he reminds Claire of her wasted youth. And then the charming but mysterious Dr. Nathan appears, but he's cheating on her with his medical mistress--a demanding cardiology practice.

To further rock her boat, Claire's 'stable' career in publishing has been tossed about by her floundering company's launch of a new line of trendy, salacious books. Cookbooks aren't selling these days, but erotica is flying off the shelves--and challenging Claire's attitude about sex, work . . . and her tempestuous new life.

When her best friend convinces her to buddy up to the aspiring writer who just moved in across the street, Claire rejects the idea--he has already caught her in more than one embarrassing and scantily clad situation. Giving in to her friend's nudging, she tries to ignore the details she discovers about him, including his hard rock night gig and his mesmerizing blue eyes, in the hopes his literary talents can pull her publishing house up from the bottom of the ocean.

Claire's dilemma begs the question Are there NO men or TOO MANY?

THERE ARE NO MEN is Book 2 in the Rom-Com on the Edge series. All books are standalone novels, but read in order for maximum fun!

The premise of the story is good. The first couple of chapters showed promise, wit, and humor....then it went downhill fast. The main character whines on and on in every single chapter about not being able to have a child. It was like Groundhog Day, with each chapter just full of the same whining, the same babble about needing to desperately find that old, reliable childless man, and the same drunken binges with bad shoes. Page after page of the same material. I kept hoping it would get better, but unfortunately this book was a big disappointment.

I just loved this book. It was a long, funny, rocky road until Claire finally found the right guy. I loved the setting and wish I had Claire's job because the author put in so many interesting details about it (actually, I wish I could have been the editor they hired). Brandon is so cool even when he gets mad at Claire and when he did, I could understand why. Dixie is adorable and made me want a wiener dog (I'm a cat person). I even liked Nathan at first and I liked Justin as a true friend for Claire. For awhile there, I thought she might end up with Ryan from the restaurant who seemed like a pretty good guy, too.

I understood Claire's struggle with infertility right away since my late husband and I went through that (but I didn't have any miscarriages--ours was just unexplained). All of her friends, her sister and her parents were a great support system. I liked Brandon's friends, too, and I'm a sucker for a hero in the music business. That his main job is a writer made him even cooler.

I had so much fun reading this book and can't wait for more from this author.
If you want a quick read with not much substance this is the book for you. It did very little for women empowerment, even though the main character had ample opportunity to show strength. Instead the author choose to have her ignore every sign that the man she was dating was borderline abusive and only interested in her as a trophy wife. Meanwhile, the more attentive guy across the street who was written as an obviously better match went without consideration until guy one was caught cheating. There were a few other men thrown into the plot as well, leading me to question how the title was chosen. The inclusion of the dog getting loose at every opportunity also got annoying after a while. It is a three-star because some women would enjoy this type of story.
Didn't care for this one. The author's attempt to show the female lead's vulnerability and confusion over the problems in her life ends up making her look failingly neurotic, over emotional and stupid. Everybody has their holes, but she comes off as really unlikable, and yet, somehow men keep falling in love with her. Add that to the Deus ex machina ending, where she magically figures out the truth about all the people she misjudged and gets the guy, and the story just ends. Felt like the author got as bored with the story as I was and decided to just wrap it up to stop the agony.

Took way too long to get there, then the ending left me completely dissatisfied. Try to develop more like able characters faster and clearer next time.
It took me multiple times to finish this book. The main character is soooo annoying. First off if you are in your early 30s someone in their late 20s is acceptable to date. Then there are mixed messages such as too broke to fix the house but yet she spends hundreds on alcohol and shoes on a weekly basis. She is whining constantly and acting like a teenager. Open your mouth, say what you want and get over it. She can not be called smart when she is constantly doing dumb things like buying and wearing shoes, she can't walk in. Constantly losing her dog, and afraid of sex books. How old is she because a 36 year old doesn't act like that. The characters were all added in to boost pages but they were lifeless. Story was predictable. Too many times I scanned the pages to get to the next interesting and relevant part. This book could have easily been 100 pages. And if this was anyone friend, they would have been told her to get over it and see a doctor, if need be, but grow up and move on.
SPOILER ~~~~ This book was well written and didn't have a ton of typos in it like some on . It has some cute and funny parts but the main character was a little bit whinny and immature. She drank too much and once blamed it on people buying her alcohol. Seriously?! It's called don't drink it! Then the whole dog getting off the tie down stake so much what was that about? I assumed we were going to find out the creepy Dr was vandalizing it but nope didn't find that out. Also, the ending was HORRIBLE! To me it felt like the author was tired of writing and just stuck an ending in that didn't make sense. Her neighbor Brandon is going to tell her he loves her and they never have even been on a date?? NO REALISTIC! Even though the main character got on my nerves a little but that didn't bother me too bad! I am not suppose to like everyone! The ending though was very disappointing! She spent way to much time on the creepy Dr and NONE on the developing relationship with Brandon! I was not thrilled.
